In January of 2005, and with the team needing a pin to secure an undefeated Conference Championship against rival Great Neck North, the Bulldogs sent out Junior 189lber, Tom Roccotagliata.

Roccotagliata clearly was the dominant wrestler from the opening whistle. Going into the second period ahead on a major decision, "Rocco" knew that the team needed 6 points out of him. He chose bottom and worked to escape on the whistle. His opponent brought him back to the mat with an illegal slam, that would eventually end Rocco's junior season. He used his injury time and told his coaches he could finish the match. And finish the match he did! He hit his escape and then took his opponent back to the mat and worked for the pin. The entire gym shook as everyone was chanting "ROCCO, ROCCO, ROCCO".

Tom got his team the needed 6, and iced the match and the Conference Championship for the Bulldogs. Tom would later find out that he had torn his meniscus in two places. Season ending surgery followed but he returned to the mat just in time to go to the 28 day Intensive J. Robinson Camp at the University of Minnesota. In his senior year, he managed the pain and worked to becoming Roslyn's only Conference Champion.
